Have you filled a bucket today?

Bucket Fillers

Bucket Fillers is a program designed for K-12 students. Its purpose is to help children become other-centered rather than self-centered and to create a positive classroom environment. I began by reading the book, Have You Filled a Bucket Today? A Guide for Daily Happiness for Kids, by Carol McCloud.  We discussed  specific examples of bucket filling (being kind and showing respect for others) and bucket dipping (saying mean things to others and bullying).  The students received a class list and we came up with the goal of  filling everyone's bucket by the end of the school year. The students know that the fillers must be positive. Every Monday morning the students will check their buckets for bucket fillers. The students know that the forms are private and personal and they do not need to share. For more information regarding Bucket Fillers check out their website. A special thanks to Mrs. Cathy Walker for the inspiration to begin this program in our classroom.
