Classroom Reminders

Classroom GuidelinesTop of Page

Classroom rules imply enforcement by the teacher. Expectations are what is required of all students so that we are respectful, have an opportunity to learn and ensure that everyone succeeds. Expectations will be reviewed and practiced daily until all students know and understand them. Students also have a copy of our Classroom Handbook of Routines and Procedures that will help us do those daily routines quickly so that we can get to the "good stuff." Students will be expected to follow our class expectations and learn our routines and procedures in a timely manner.

Individual student behavior will be monitored using a Clip Chart. The Clip Chart enables students to change behaviors and make better choices. Students will complete a simple daily report based on their smart choices which will require a daily signature by an adult. This daily report will keep you informed on a regular basis. Your child's citizenship grade will be a reflection of your child's daily choices and behaviors. Our Clip Chart allows students to improve misbehavior and get back on track resulting in a great day!

When students make poor choices, he/she may be asked to complete a Stinger Report. The Stinger Report will be taken home so that the student can discuss his/her behavior with parent(s). The parent will sign the Stinger Report and the student will return it the next day. The purpose of the Stinger Report is to help the child focus on the unwanted behavior and the necessary steps to take next so that the behavior does not continue. If a student receives more than one Stinger Report in a week (rarely happens), it will be necessary to have a parent/teacher conference either by phone or in person.

Our classroom is full of incredibly gifted and special students that deserve the best learning environment possible. If a student prevents me from teaching and stops us from learning, it will not be tolerated. I reserve the right to bypass regular classroom interventions or consequences for serious misbehaviors that result in students not learning or that causes someone harm.

Students will be chosen at random to receive a bee certificate. For most students, rewards are a temporary solution and often seen as manipulative. Therefore, I will occasionally give out small nonfood treats as presents rather than rewards to all students.
