WE BELIEVE THAT ALL STUDENTS CAN DEVELOP SOCIALLY AND BE ACADEMICALLY SUCCESSFUL!

Hello and welcome!  Our names are Mrs. Jones and Miss Dunn.  We are extremely excited to be your child's teachers.  We would like to take this opportunity to introduce our classroom policies and procedures to you.  We look forward to an exciting and successful year in 5th grade!

This year will be challenging, yet fun for your child.  The California State Standards will be covered across all subjects and taught accordingly.  We have high expectations for every child.  We hold extremely high expectations for each student and believe that children will rise to those expectations.  We will encourage your student to work hard to meet their fullest potential.  In order to maintain consistency, we ask that you expect the same from them at home.  We expect all students to use their class time wisely, complete their work on time and turn in all assignments.  We allow plenty of time for students to complete class work, and therefore any incomplete work must be completed as additional homework.  Late work will be accepted the following day and will receive ½ credit.  If a student is absent he/she will have one day to makeup the missing assignments, which may be picked up after school that day.

We assign homework daily, Monday through Thursday.  You should see your child doing a Reading/Language Arts , Math and Science/Social Studies assignment a night.  Homework should take an average of 50 minutes each night and will be due the following morning unless otherwise stated.  In addition to nightly homework, your child needs to be reading a minimum of 20 minutes every night.  Our goal is to provide your child with a successful, yet challenging academic experience.  We focus on organization and responsibility skills, which are essential for the future success of each student.

We feel fortunate for the opportunity to work with your child this year.  We have an open door policy and we are more than willing to meet or talk with you about any needs or concerns regarding your child.  You may send a note, leave a message in the office, set up an appointment or e-mail us at c.jones@bonita.k12.ca.us.  We will get back to you as soon as possible, but it may be late in the evening or early the next morning.  Please feel free to call us for any reason (909) 971-8204 ext. 1437.  Together we will create a partnership, which will benefit your child's success.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Jones and Miss Dunn
